Frequently Asked Questions

General
  • Nice program, but I need one additional important feature.

Send us your ideas using the contact link on the left. We will add it to our database. Things we hear a lot might eventually be implemented in a future version.

  • Will there be regular updates for WorkLog?

Issues with the program (e.g. crashes) will be fixed ASAP. New features will be added in larger intervals however, as we don't want to confuse people with different application behavior every other week. But we will add new features whenever we have a reasonable set to implement. The price of WorkLog is a bit higher than the average App Store application but this allows us to offer support and to provide an update every now and then.

  • Help!! The application keeps crashing! I have important data on it!

Every version of WorkLog has been rigorously tested before release. Unfortunately no software is ever completely free of bugs. But don't worry, even if WorkLog should refuse to work, we can most likely rescue your data. In the past around two users per thousand experienced issues. And none of them lost any data. Just contact us using our contact form if you need help.

Logging Time
  • I prefer to log time manually. Can I?

Yes. You can manually add, delete and edit time entries anytime. You can even add entire days manually.
To add a day press "+" in the upper left corner on the main screen. To delete a day, click "Edit" and then the delete icon next to the day you'd like to remove.
In order to edit time entries you need to switch to the day details view first. Simply tap a day in the main view. After WorkLog has switch to the day details view, tap "Edit".

  • What if I want to delete an entire week or month?

No problem. Simply tap "Edit" in the main view. The "+" button will be replaced with a "Delete..." button. Pressing the latter will allow you to select a period and delete it.

  • I'd like to assign a category right when I start working.

Press and hold the start button. You will be a view will slide up which is pre-populated with all the settings of the previous entry which you can change for the next entry. Then press save.

Categories
  • I work for various clients, so I'd rather assign my entries to clients instead of the less specific 'categories'

You rename the categories field to 'clients' or 'projects' under WorkLog in the settings application on your iPhone.

  • Can I rearrange categories once they're defined?

Yes. Switch to the categories view and tap "Edit". You can now rearrange entries by dragging them to other positions.

  • How can I export a report which only contains the entries for one category, client or project?

Go to reports and select a report period. You will now see a report containing all categories. By tapping on one of the categories, the report will be filtered. Now press export to generate a file for the selected category.

Customer quotes

WorkLog is really the kind of iPhone app that it’s worthwhile to pony up the ducats for, once you find that the lite version suits your needs.

This little application has changed my life - entirely. For years now I had to pass through scraps of papers, old companies work logs, [...]. Now with the simple press of some buttons it'll all do it for me easily and fast.
I'm a chef. At my work we still write our hours on a piece of paper. In kitchens that can get lost, dirty or thrown out by mistake... now I can keep a record of the exact hours I worked without trying to store it in my head.
